|It’s Wedding Season y’all! That means there’s a possibility of traveling! And this time around, love brought us to a quaint little gem of a town, Temecula, California!
Just an hour drive up the I-15 N (from San Diego) for an hour and you’ll find yourself hopping from vineyard to vineyard where the wine is flowing – you can even venture to a few casinos, and hopefully make a little bit of your travel expenses back while you’re at it! Here’s a few places to check out while you’re in town, too!
Things To Do
Gems of Pala – Come and be part of California’s rich gem mining history! You and your family are welcome to come and dig your own bucket of gem gravels fresh from the underground tunnels of the Stewart Mine here in Pala. Try to arrive before 1pm so you have time to screen your gems before they close at 3pm. Only $20.00 per bucket!!
Keys Creek Lavender Farm – Such a beautiful sight to see while in Temecula Valley. It’s San Diego County’s only USDA certified organic lavender farm. They offer education based tours, public, and private tours and events by reservation only. And kindly remind those looking to take a gander their way, that they are a working farm and please do not show up without a reservation! Heads up: Bookings for tours are closed for now, until 2017. So check the link provided for more info!
Penny Pickles Workshop – And if you have kids… Welcome to the world of Professor Phineas T. Pennypickle! This is the Professor’s home…7500 square feet of it, cluttered with hands-on inventions, gadgets, experiments…and kids won’t even know they’re learning as they play! Located in the heart of Old Town Temecula, Southern California, Pennypickle’s Workshop (formerly called the Imagination Workshop) has already won a THEA award from the Themed Entertainment Association, representing creators of compelling places and experiences, two awards from the California Park and Recreation Society, and Nickelodeon Networks’ Parents’ Pick Award for Best Museum and Best Birthday Party Place. Seems like a fun and worthwhile, ‘broaden that mind’ type of adventure!
Kenny’s Strawberry Farm – A rich and fruitful way to spend an hour of your day – walking and picking your very own fresh strawberries at Kenny’s Strawberry Fields! Closed for summer they re-open the farm for Pumpkin season in October.
Temecula Valley Jeep Wine Tours – Yes, Temecula has its own wine country! Climb into one of their inviting apple red Jeeps and head into beautiful Wine Country. The open blue skies, grand mountain vistas, and flowing vineyards lay ahead. Far from the buzz of traffic and urban sprawl, Temecula’s Wine Country features landscapes that will take your breath away – and what better way to explore it than in an open-air 4×4 Jeep! We had a blast!
Luke’s On Front – Grab some drinks on the top floor and listen to a live band!
Public House – Little bit smaller than Luke’s, but you’ll also find a live band and a bar!
Black Bird – Chiller vibe with a DJ and why not play a good ol’ game of corn hole while you’re there!
The Temecula Stampede – Straight opposite side of the spectrum, kick up your boots one evening at this country bar, pool hall!
Bailey’s Old Town – Well if you’re not quite sure what you’re feeling, this bar has a little bit of everything! You can even keep warm by the fire pits they have outback!
Ready to throw some money down? Yes, you can find your own luck right here at a few local casinos.

Wineries in the Valley – (Our Top Pick)
DOFFO – John and Julie (who were super knowledgeable in the tasting) were tremendous and after visiting five other wineries, we believe, Doffo truly harvests the best wines in Temecula! DON’T MISS THIS STOP!
Condor’s Nest Ranch
Alright, last but not least – and since LOVE WAS IN THE AIR on this journey – our top “hidden gem” in Temecula is Condor’s Nest Ranch! Great job to our friends the Beal’s who found this stunning location/venue for their daughter’s wedding. It truly is a gem.
