Happy New Year! If you haven’t noticed already the last few months of 2016 brought back a few trends, and we feel the need to back them, especially VELVET! It’s in, and it’s gorgeous, so pile it on and wear it!
Yes, we have fallen in love with all things velvet, from shoes at Steve Madden, and Free People, to dresses, as well as the newest comeback accessory – the choker. Simply sassy and ravishingly chic, we boast to its uniqueness and distinct look as this newest trend sweeps each city across the U.S. We plan to continue sporting the irresistible velvet texture that kisses our skin, and makes us feel like royalty through 2017!
We recently purchased a pink velvet dress from Esther Penn in Fort Worth, Texas; not thinking much about it, tried it on, and immediately fell in love. We also added this Free People jacket (pictured below) to our closets – the texture will surely turn heads!
This velvet trend can be found in a pair of boots as well as some lace-up wedges from Steve Madden. So, if you see something velvet in a store, TRY IT ON! Don’t be afraid to rock it, stand out, and look fabulous!
Want more? Check out this on-trend velvet slip dress and these velvet lace chokers from Sabo Skirt, they will get you in the velvet vibe! And because we are loving this trend be sure to check these sites and what they have to offer, too… this sexy black dress from Alice & Olivia, this crushed velvet bralette from Net-A-Porter, this body suit leotard from Necessary Clothing, and this velvet skirt from Club Monaco, it’s on sale!
What else did 2016 bring us?
Glorious gladiator sandals! This look doesn’t appeal to you? That’s OK! The overload of “lace-up” shoes (that vary from knee height, to a simple few ties around the ankle) has NOT gone unnoticed.
Don’t get us wrong, we love them. We wear our Steve Madden lace-up shoes almost every week (as it’s nearly always warm here in the Valley of the Sun!), but you must know the right way to wear them. Don’t over do it. Wear a slightly more simplistic outfit to accentuate the shoes, especially if they are the “wow” factor to your outfit.
Lace-up shoes that wrap simply around your ankle can be worn with almost anything. You want your shoes to make your outfit, not break it.
We just bought these from Nordy’s! Another classic Steve Madden shoe! They are uber comfortable to walk in and fit true to size!
Keep it sassy and classy, not trashy. And get your CHIC-Y on!
